Luc has performed many functions in the ORD-GROUP, including hardware design and building, software design and implementation and documentation. Being primarily a software person, however, he is the author of the time-sharing software (TS) that allowed the ORDINATOR to perform its intended function as a multi-user computer and also the primary author of this website.
He became a member of DJOE after being pointed in the right direction by one of his schoolteachers. His first experience with DJOE-built computer hardware was
writing the software for the DJOE 'Pac-selector' rack for the EXIDY computer.
He used the Development Pac from the rack to write the cassette-based
SED (Source EDitor) program that later grew into the
disk-based SEDN (SED New), the source editor of choice for the ORD-GROUP.
Another program he wrote was LINK, a more flexible replacement for
the EXLINK linker program that came with EXIDY CP/M. The input for both
linkers was the extended Intel HEX dialect produced by the EXASM assembler whose 'EXIDY Z80 ASSEMBLER'
banner we later patched to read 'DJOE Z80 ASSEMBLER'. The names of the three
programs were eventually shortened to E, A, and L (Edit, Assemble, and Link).
In his professional life, Luc has over ten years of experience
in the area of interactive multimedia software (initially CD-i,
later CD-ROM and Internet). When his long-time employer folded
in early 2002, he teamed up with several ex-colleagues to form
Emmia educatieve multimedia where
he currently performs the dual roles of senior programmer / managing director.
